Conditions

Neck and lower back pain

Commonly known as herniated disk or cervical pain, it is a condition that can develop suddenly or gradually. Why does it happen? During our lives whe make decisions over our body without knowing the consequences. Smoking, not exercising regularly and an inadequate nutrition substantially contribute to a poor disk health. Bad posture in combination with habitual use of incorrect body mechanics may cause an additional stress to the spine.

Add this factors to the fatigue, injuries, incorrect lifting or torsions, and it is easy to understand why it appears.

Sciatic Pain

Sciatic is often described as a mild to severe pain in a leg. It is caused by the compression of one or more than the five sets of nerve roots in the lower back. Doctors sometimes call sciatica a radiculopathy.. It is a medical term used to describe the pain, numbness, tingling and weakness on arms and legs caused by a nerve root condition. If the problem is on the neck, it is called cervical radiculopathy. However, since sciatica affects the lower back, it is called lumbar radiculopathy.

The diagnosis is essential for treatment and it may include X-rays or MRI in addition to a neurological examination. Depending on the pain causes, there are many options to treat it.

Infantile and adult scoliosis

Scoliosis is a side curvature on the normally straight vertical line of the spine. When a person with a normal spine is viewed from the side, there is usually a slight roundness in the upper back and there is a neglect of the backward slope in the lower back. When a person with a normal spine is viewed from the front or back, the spine looks straight. When a person with scoliosis is viewed from the front or back, the spine looks curved.

The diagnosis of scoliosis and its type is made by a careful orthopedic examination and an X-ray to evaluate the magnitude of the curve.

Treatment Options

Depending on the problem your solution may be surgical or non-surgical treatments.

There are many non-surgical treatment options and in many cases they can be the solution to the problem.

Physiotherapy is based on basic and simple modifications on your daily activities, postural hygiene standards, as well as other pain-relieving treatments and muscle strengthening exercises.

Facet joints infiltrations consist of applying a corticoid and local anesthesia on the facet joint, which is the joint that joins two vertebrae from behind, to numb the spinal joint and relieve the pain that comes from it when it is swollen or worn out.

Lumbar radiofrequency ablation is a procedure used for the treatment of lower back facet joint pain. When this procedure is performed on a lumbar nerve, the nerve will no longer transmit the pain from an injured facet joint.

Surgical Treatment

When talking about surgical treatments que immediately imagine a lot of pain and long recovery time. Nowadays, this is not the case since there are surgerys such as endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, which are advanced procedures performed with specialized equipment and minimal incisions and lightly aggressive techniques.
